Anniversary Getaway at Thunderbird, La Union, September 2010

Saturday, September 3, 2011

I've been to La Union once, but that was years ago when Anji, my colleague at Etelecare brought us to her hometown. From then on, I've just been passing La Union on our way to Baguio. Until mid last year I was in the hunt for a perfect getaway for our wedding anniversary.

I was thinking of either Baguio, Batangas or Tagaytay. I surveyed my friends online and they advised me to check out Thunderbird. I was like, what the? The only Thunderbird I was familiar with was chicken feeds (yeah, literally).

So I checked the site out and it was amazing. I'm loving how it was situated somewhere far from the main road. Also, there's a casino a couple of minutes away from the hotel. Cameras were not allowed so we weren't able to take pictures. But it was an amazing experience. I only spent 500 pesos. Yes, we're pretty cheap but I'm not willing to spend more than that in gambling. We just went there for the experience.

But the entire place was breathtaking. I'm hoping there are more places like that in the Philippines.

Acuatico Travel with Jona, 2010

Aside from food, my next passion is traveling. I don't know what it is about traveling that gives me pure unadulterated excitement that going to the mall or watching movies can't give.

More than a year ago, during my marital hiatus (yes, I've been in that phase), my friend, Jona and I decided to go for an overnight vacation. I planned the whole thing as she's working in Singapore. So when she arrived two days before our scheduled vacation, everything's ready. She brought their family car with a driver and her cousin, Rhon.

We went to the famous Acuatico, a resort in Batangas, especially famous for their infinity pool. The place was fantastic. Though the rooms are quite small than what you'll expect, it is still beautiful. I just really wish they made it a bit bigger.

The place look so serene and their food was great, not as great as buffets but it was okay.

Supposed Korn Concert, Sambo-Kojin Dinner

Friday, September 2, 2011

When I heard Korn will do a concern here in the Philippines I immediately grabbed the opportunity and let my sister know about it. Back in college, I influenced her with Korn's music ironically we grew loving them. We were so excited that we missed out on the most important thing, the tickets. We were so confident that we will be able to get a couple of tickets that we came there a bit late, just two hours before the concert started. We ended up without a single one.

Two men came out of a police car and approached us while waiting for cab to Eastwood. They offered us tickets to the concert for a better price, however, I don't trust policemen and scalpels. In as much as I would to watch the concert, I wouldn't want to end up in jail.

We end up eating buffet at Sambo-Kojin, since we were in the area, might as well enjoy the time with my sister at Eastwood. I loved, loved, loved the date little sis!

S0, we'll just probably have to wait for their next concern, hopefully before I turn 50. LOL!

Why We Left Town and Country, Marilao

I've made some posts in 2008 about the house we were renting. I've been too happy bragging about how the house looked better than our previous apartments. I'm sure you're about to ask why we left.

Let me start by posting pictures from our flood-adventures in Town and Country. They were nothing compared to our Ondoy experience, but being anxious each and every time it's raining, it's not what we thought it would be.That's why we really made an effort to move to a new place the soonest possible time.

Abandoned Blog

I deeply apologize for abandoning you my blog. You have been my stress reliever and diary for years and yet I abandoned you. I apologize.

I've been deeply busy with life's crazy happenings.

Let me review what happened after my last post.

1. I celebrated my 30th birthday, ala-children's party at Jollibee BBB. Friends and relatives came, mom didn't go, we had a quarrel days before that.

2. Life changed a bit when we decided to get a house from Dolmar. I'm not sure if I was able to blog about it in 2008 but that is the same house we saw 3 years ago but decided not to pursue. We're paying huge amount just to complete the down payment. Finances had been a little stiff from then on. We're now spending less for everything.

3. I've officially opened my own online store, selling watches, old clothes and bags.

4. Jeff joined Talentadong Pinoy twice, first was January of this year and next appearance was last June, he failed to win twice. But I'm happy that he's able to perform in front of a huge crowd.

5. February of this year when we decided to travel to Cebu with 1 month preparation. It cost me my small business but I guess Cebu and Bantayan's beauty is well worth it.

6. It was a huge pain when my boss of nearly a year decided to put a hold on the assignment, this left worried because without additional work, I cannot handle paying for the house's down payment and our current utilities.

7. June of this year when my long time boss of 2 years decided to put a hold on the project, though both projects are still on going, we're not allowed to bill them because we're not given any assignments as of yet. It strained our finances pretty bad and I almost have given up the house. Thank God for his blessings and we've been constantly saved from all the troubles.

8. June 24 when Typhoon Falcon hit Luzon, there, we suffered another flooding. Unlike our experience with Ondoy, we were more ready but then there were still appliance that got wet and we're unable to recover. We already decided to move out and scheduled to leave Marilao on August 1, 2011.

9. July 30, just two days before the scheduled move out, we were surprised to see flood from the garage, we didn't expect it because high tide usually happens in noon time till afternoon. But that was the last straw and decided to move on Saturday afternoon. Good thing mom left us her other house, we're still paying for the rent though.

10. I do have some assignments at the moment that keeps us afloat. Jeff finally found a job, he's now with Startek in Makati.

So many things had happened but these are the most prominent part of my memory bank. I'm hoping I could continue blogging though.

Oh, one more thing, I just recently found out that around 2 years ago, a former colleague of mine nearly damaged my reputation by posting my blog link to my boss. Good thing my boss wasn't as narrow -minded as her. Anyway, I'm still happy that at least some or a few people read my posts.

Have a happy day everyone!

Sax Society's 3rd Meet

Tuesday, March 2, 2010

As mentioned in my last post, Jeff's been busy with his schedules with work, choir training and this new Sax Society built by Mr. Tots Tolentino through PhilMusic, a forum specially made for mucisians here in the Philippines.

Sax Society has been religiously holding a workshop for all sax players and enthusiasts every two weeks (which is every other Tuesday), at exactly 4PM at ten02 bar in Timog Ave, Quezon City.
ten02 is a bar run by a very talented artist, Skarlet, also known as Myra of the defunct Put3Ska band in the mid nineties. The bar and resto targets the Jazz enthusiasts and you'll surely be nostalgic upon entering.

As for the 4th meeting on March 16, 2010, Sax Society Workshop will focus on the members' performance, so this is gonna be really exciting for Jeff, I'll surely go with him on the next meeting. It sure will kick off every single nerve in Jeff's body to be able to perform in front of some of the Philippines' most talented musicians.

Looking forward to meeting Skarlet once again and hear great music from the group. Cheers!
