Endoscope

Yesterday, May 24, 2007, I accompanied my hubby in Medical City to attend to his scheduled endoscopy session with Doctor Eustachio ( I hope I spelled it correctly). We waited for nearly an hour before the doctor arrived, Jeff got dressed up in a hospital gown and was not allowed to eat atleast 8 hours before the session. It was somehow a very traumatic experience for me seing my hubby on the hospital bed and getting ready with the endoscopy. They first sprayed an anesthesia on his throat, I guess para di nya ma feel yung intensity ng gagawin sa kanya. Pinatagilid sya to his left where he can see a view of his stomach through a monitor. Then they put in a cable (coaxial) in his mouth. This cable holds the camera that is somehow connected to the monitor. Pinapalunok sya everytime they have to enter another part of his internal organs, like his stomach, intestines etc. I don't know how to describe it, pero parang mas ako ang nahirapan sa nangyayari during the session. I can't imagine myself in his position, parang I can't swallow that much para lang ipakita sa kanila ang internal organs ko. I know it was excrutiatingly painful for him, all I could do was touch his hands and punasan ang drool sa bed. I almost cried but if I did I know it would've been harder for him to bear. Anyways, natapos din sya after 5 minutes (the longest 5 minutes of my life). The doctor said his stomach is fine but again, he confirmed that he has a Hiatal Hernia and a mild gastro something. Sabi ni doc di na daw maalis yun, it's a lifetime thing, pero may chances na ma lessen ang sakit ng tyan as he ages. There's some prescription that he has to take and it costs 100 pesos per tablet, He has to take it for atleast 2 weeks to ease up the pain. To give you a sample, here's a picture of the device na pinasok sa body nya... Imagine ka nalang..
