Endoscopy

Tuesday, May 22, 2007

It's Tuesday, 2 days from Jeff's (my husband) endoscopy schedule. It's quite scary knowing that his doctor might find something unsual in his stomach that might result in an operation.

He first experienced stomach pains back in 2005, when we're still living together without the church's blessing. He would suddenly scream in pain and would curl up in bed. I would give him Kremil S, thinking it's just a simple hyper acidity. After 4 times of taking Kremil S, I knew then that it was worst than I initially thought. I called his mom, who worked in a hospital years ago and was advised to give him H2Block. I don't know what it was before but I had to do something, so I bought a few and gave one to him. It somehow took the pain away for several minutes, and lasted us days without him feeling the extreme pain. One mid morning when everyone's asleep my husband just grabbed my hand and saw him crying in pain. I couldn't describe his pain because I think I felt it too. Afraid to rush him in a private hospital with only P500 in my pocket, I called his uncle who lived nearby to accompany us in Rizal Provincial Hospital, which is 15 minutes away from our lovenest. When we got there, it took us atleast 20 minutes before a nurse attended to his needs. He was just checked, questioned what is painful and was given a piece of paper containing the medicine he needs. His uncle and I immediately rushed to the drug stores outside only to find out that the drug he needed costs P600. God bless his uncle for bringing extra bucks. The drug that was injected to him only lasted an hour, and by 4 am, back at the lovenest, the excruciating pain got back again. It was one of our lowest, we couldn't find any word to describe the situation, it was the worst. Came 6 AM on that day, I decided to bring him back to his mom's home, where we can get help. With teary eyes, I told his mom of his situation and asked for help, they immediately rushed him to UST, they bought him several medicines and when they brought him home, it seems like his back to normal again. I don't know what it caused it but that was the start of our yearly visit to hospitals.

May of 2006 when the same thing happened. We were at the verge of our relationship due to miscommunication and misunderstading when he had the same attack. He was staying with his mom when he was scheduled for his first endoscopy. I was so afraid that even were not together I managed to asked his mom about his conditions. It only lasted for a brief moment and it was gone even before we got back into each other's arm.

May of this year (2007), just last Sunday, he went to Manila to attend a quarterly meeting of Prex (his org). His brother sent me a message that he had another attack but will be on his way home to Pasig (our house) in a few hours. I immediately gave him two H2block, which I keep in our medicine glass. It calmed him for a few hours, Monday morning came, about past 3 AM when he decided he'll not report for work due to the same excrutiating pain. He called in for half day thinking that the H2block could get the pain away, but after sleeping for another 4 hours he decided to go on absent for that day. We immediately went to Medical City, then the scary part again, he had to undergo another endoscopy and an ultra sound. Now, i'm getting more and more concerned about his health I wouldn't know what to do on Thursday. I never expected that the simple stomach pain would reach this far. But were hoping for the best, and that he would be permanently healed.
